Now a days Wordpress takes the fore front in website creation for many. It is easy to use and can quickly be uploaded to the internet for immediate exposure. Don’t get me wrong…traffic may take some time to develop but once you have your website up…you can start sending people right away.

Contrary to what many believe, to build an internet business is fairly simple but not necessarily easy. There are several things that you must learn in the process to achieve success. Even someone who has had a business before or own a brick and mortar business now, there are different ways to market on the internet.

When I started working on the internet I had been an employee and had little to no business background to speak of. I sold eyeglasses in doctor’s offices for many years and only used programs necessary to complete patient information and a sale.  I started using a computer when I was building a direct marketing business and orders were placed online or on the phone.

Internet marketing is so different from the early days of my business experience.  Now I make money promoting other people’s products and have created a product of my own to market. I also blog and write articles which is something I never thought I could or would do. I have recently gotten involved in social networking such as Twitter and Facebook and now LinkedIn. Because of these associations I can create an income that is passive and allows me to enjoy my life more fully.

The beauty of online marketing is that you can not only reach people in your community but you can reach people around the world. You also can find material that will help you to grow your business and just create new friendships.

2011 is in full swing and it appears that we may have a small breather from the downward spiral of the economy.  Many started new business both brick and mortar and on the internet to rebuild or recover from a loos of employment.  The success of those new and older businesses depends on a persons willingness to get educated and stay educated with changing technology in all areas of business.

In the not so distant past, the standard way to market on the internet was with email marketing.  But most could not understand just why their email was not being read nor were their readers buying what was offered.  What was not known then and many do not know now is that by “Chunking” you email, it becomes more readable and less intimidating to the recipient.  By increasing readability, there is a greater chance of a response of any kind to include a possible purchase. 

So what does “chunking” mean to the  average marketer?  It means that when writing an email, it is best to only have paragraphs of no more that five lines.   Those lines should not be more that sixty characters across so that the paragraphs are shorter in width.  This is also called the 21 w’s rule. When using a URL in the body of the message it is best to use upper and lower case letters.

By using this method of writing, your emails can become more pleasant for your reader to see and encourages them to take action more frequently.  Visually, your email looks longer and can be scanned quickly for those who do not read word for word and want to get to the point. Once you learn how to create an eye catching subject line and and a visually pleasant body, you email will begin to produce bigger and better results.

Membership sites are great tool to redirect subscriber traffic back in one direction.  In many cases internet marketers have several blogs or websites that tend to scatter traffic all over the internet.  a membership site can and will drive traffic back to one central location and increase the loyalty and purchases of those who subscribe. 

There are many types of membersites available depending on what the author is trying to accomplish and what type of content is being given.  One type of site is a publisher site that is used to continually give fresh content on a regular basis.  This type of site requires more time and more effort but is more rewarding.  Another site commonly used is the UPS site that delivers packages of content every month such are Private Label articles and ebooks.  And still another site used is one called micro content and is a limited time membership that can last from 6 weeks to one full yearwhich is very similar to the modular course type of member site which allows access to one module at a time after purchase and generally has a protected download area. 

There about ten types of sites that can be built to suit the online business.  But the question seems to arise as to why would people pay to get content that might be free elsewhere.  The answer is convenience.  They want solutions and information now.  So you must have great content that addresses questions, concerns, desires, wants, problems and challenges of the readers.

It is advantageous to look into building a website that is member oriented if you have content that serves the public using internet.  You will find that your income will increase as your reader get to know, like and trust you and your information and become comfortable with purchasing what you have to offer.
